While SportsBetting Poker may not be a household name, the company behind the site is one of North America’s most established betting brands. Given the success of other American-facing poker sites, it’s no surprise that they’re trying to get a piece of the pie.
But how does it stack up against the giants of the industry? Can a relatively unknown site aim to compete with the big boys? To find out, I created an account at SportsBetting Poker, deposited my own hard-earned money, and jumped onto the poker tables.
I played everything I could, from cash games and sit & go’s to multi-table tournaments–you name it. I wanted to see how they compared to the industry’s standards and whether the site was worth your time.
I also looked at other key areas critical to poker players, such as deposit and withdrawal options, bonuses and promotions, and the customer support team. With over a decade in the industry, I know what poker players want from a real money poker site, and I’ve used that knowledge to create this review of SportsBetting Poker. Let’s dive in.
While it would be easy to assume that poker would take a backseat at a site called SportsBetting, you couldn’t be more wrong. The site has a robust selection of different poker games and good regular tournaments that give players a chance to win big. The exclusive games on offer are fantastic for those who like to play their poker at top speed. At the same time, the site’s high traffic ensures there is plenty of competition at the bigger tables.
A major attraction for the site is its focus on crypto. The option to deposit with other cryptos besides Bitcoin will be a big selling point for many online poker players. The site’s accessibility across devices is also a huge plus, though a mobile app would be something many players would welcome in the future.
SportsBetting delivers a solid selection of poker games for its players. Whether it’s fast action or longer games you’re looking for, there is plenty of variety. The site sees plenty of traffic, and I never had problems finding tables to sit and play at.
The vast majority of traffic at SportsBetting Poker will naturally be at the Texas Hold’Em tables. Plenty of different-sized tables are on hand for players to try their luck at, with those who prefer smaller-sized games also being kept satisfied. It’s nice to see a balance between 6max and full ring–even as someone who prefers 6max–as it means they listen to the wants and needs of their players.
Those who want a faster dose of action can try out the operator’s sit & go games. Most of these will be lower buy-ins, though some can offer decently large prize pools. I’m legit a sucker for a jackpot sit & go, and there are plenty of those to play on this site.
Windfall games are exclusive to SportsBetting. These are three-handed, super-fast games with random prize pools. Some of these can be worth up to 2,000x the player’s stake. You’ll find plenty to love about Windfalls if you’re a fan of no-nonsense, fast-paced action like me.
Boost Poker is another fast-paced exclusive at SportsBetting. In this variant, players will instantly move to a new hand when they fold. This keeps the action from ever stalling, ensuring players can see more hands per hour than in standard games. Boost poker is perfect for players who want to increase their volume without increasing their playing time.
The selection of tournaments at SportsBetting may be smaller than some other poker rooms, but the winning potential of the available ones is really quite something. The biggest attraction will undoubtedly be the $1 Million Windfall Jackpot tournaments.
These are three-player hyper-turbo sit & go games that can be found in the operator’s windfall lobby. I’ll admit it–I enjoyed playing these games the most; there’s something special about having a chance to win life-changing cash from only a tiny investment. The prize pool here can be up to 100,000x the player’s bet!
There are also weekly tournaments available, with the Sunday Main Event being the biggest attraction. The Sunday Main Event offers up to a $150,000 prize fund for some surprisingly low buy-ins.
When picking your next poker client, one of the most important things to consider is what it’s like to use the site. You’re going to be spending hours with this software, so you need to know that it looks good and is easy to use.
As part of my review, I spent a good deal of time with the web client and downloadable poker client, looking for its hidden gems and the flaws they’d rather you not know about, so take a look below to find out more.
Like many US-facing poker rooms, SportsBetting Poker offers a web client that allows you to play directly from your web browser, but unlike other poker sites, the SportsBetting web client is amazing! It looks and feels just like a regular poker client, which is a rarity in online poker. Usually, the web client is just an afterthought that’s rushed together to give players more options, but you can see there’s a lot of care and attention that’s gone into building the SportsBetting Poker web client.
As you can see in the image above, the lobby looks just like a regular poker lobby, with a number of options available at the top, as well as a selection of quickplay options on the homepage. Having these options makes it easy to jump straight into a game – perfect if you want to jump on for a few minutes and try to gamble it up while waiting for your bus.
Once you do jump into a game, you’ll find that it’s just like playing on any other poker client. The table pops out into its own little window, so you need to make sure you have pop-ups enabled for the site; otherwise, you won’t be able to join your table!
The quality of the table design is equal to that of many poker client tables on other sites. I love the classic black and green color design, as I feel it really pops off the screen, but if you’re not a fan, there are a number of different themes and color designs you can choose from. As well as looking great, all the information is readily available on the table and easy to read.
Another feature that I loved about SportsBetting is the number of customizable options that are available. They have a total of seven customizable bet buttons for both preflop and postflop play, they offer the ability to change chips to BBs, you can set auto buy-in and auto top-up options, and much more!
Having a large variety of options means that you can tailor your online poker experience to suit your needs. You can turn on all the animations and play around creating your perfect table theme if that’s what you want to do, or you can eliminate all distractions and create the best environment possible for grinding long hours – the choice is yours!
One thing you notice when you jump from the web client to the poker client is how similar everything looks. While most sites treat their web client as a bootleg copy of their poker client, SportsBetting Poker has ensured that a high level of quality runs through all of their options, giving you a seamless user experience when switching between the two.
Like the web client, the lobby looks fantastic (everyone knows how much I love a dark theme), and it’s really easy to navigate; so if you’re looking for a specific poker game, it won’t take you long to get into the action.
Once you pick a game and load up a table, you’ll find that the design is just as sleek and modern as it is on the web client. One of the advantages that the poker client has over the web client is that it’s much easier to multi-table, as there are a range of different options that will automatically position your tables on the screen.
Another benefit that comes with the poker client is that you get a greater number of settings to play with, including Hotkeys, Hand History, Video, and much more! These settings allow you to set up the ultimate grind-station, where you only need to tap a button to fold, raise or call, and the saveable hand histories mean that SportsBetting is compatible with Heads-Up Displays.
Overall, both the web client and poker client at SportsBetting Poker are just fantastic. They have a range of options that make it easy to log in and enjoy your favorite game, and they’re both terrific-looking products. While the poker client may have a small edge over the web client, I had a great time with both of them, and I’m sure you will too.
While SportsBetting certainly has a number of quality features, it’s far from perfect, and there are a number of things we’d like to see.
We all love a good bonus, and SportsBetting has a good range available for its poker players. On top of some serious prize pools in their tournaments, here’s a selection of regular promotions designed to help boost your playing experience and, in some cases, your bankroll.
New players at SportsBetting Poker can get a 100% bonus when they make their first deposit. This can be claimed on deposits between $50 and $1,000. I always sign up for the welcome bonus when I join a new site (free money is free money, after all), and few things earn more, ahem, bonus points in my poker reviews than when an operator offers a giant matching deposit bonus.
A 100% bonus up to $1000 is one of the better bonuses you’ll see on the market. The bonus is paid out at a rate of $5 for every $50 earned in rake. Players will need to enter the bonus code NEWSB when they sign up to participate in the promotion.
One of the most popular promotions at SportsBetting is the Bad Beat Jackpot. This promotion puts an interesting spin on the game, providing players with the chance to win a progressive jackpot for losing. That’s right – to win this, you will need to lose. If players lose with a hand that is Four of a Kind Deuces or better at a designated Bad Beat table, then everyone at the table will be paid out. Unfortunately, it didn’t happen to me while I was playing, but it’s nice to know that if you get a sick beat, your day won’t be ruined!
SportsBetting prides itself on its massive array of banking options; quite frankly, they have it just about all covered. While many operators have adopted Bitcoin, SportsBetting has fully embraced the crypto movement, providing players with a wide variety of cryptocurrency options. Among these are Litecoin, Ethereum, Ripple, Cardano, Polygon, and Dogecoin, among others.
Outside of this, the site also accepts Mastercard and Visa cards, wire transfers, American Express, and more. The lowest deposit options come with cryptocurrencies, with the site keen to encourage players to use them. They also offer the quickest withdrawal times–when I withdrew using crypto, I received my money within hours. The minimum of $50 for fiat currencies does, however, run the risk of deterring some players.
Feeling mobile? Then you’re in luck. SportsBetting has been fully optimized to offer poker games on both Android and iOS devices. It runs smoothly on all mobile browsers, with Safari and Google Chrome offering a seamless gaming experience.
If you’d prefer playing from a dedicated mobile app, then you’re free to download the recently released SportsBetting Poker app. This app is available for both Android and iOS devices and offers an incredibly smooth mobile gaming experience. I experienced zero lag when using the app, and was pleased to see that I had the full range of games available at my fingertips.
SportsBetting provides a fantastic all-around customer experience. This is best highlighted through the range of available customer support options. If you run into an issue on the site, the team is available to help you 24/7. The easiest way to contact them is through live chat. I’ve dealt with my fair share of rage-inducing customer service reps, but I’m happy to say that SportsBetting’s CSRs were extremely friendly and knowledgeable and resolved my issues within minutes.
If you want to speak to someone directly, a phone number is available. There are also three dedicated email addresses for each of the site’s main sections.
There is a lot to like about what SportsBetting offers, especially if you’re a crypto enthusiast. The ability to play with everything from Cardano to Doge definitely makes this a unique proposition. This, combined with some great exclusive games, helps SportsBetting stand out in a crowded field of poker operators. The $1 Million Windfall Jackpot tournament will also grab the attention of many high-stakes players.
SportsBetting is very much a one-stop shop in the online gambling world, and its poker offering is no slouch. I loved the option to play using a variety of cryptocurrencies, and the wide selection of exclusive games appealed to my inner action enthusiast and desire to try new things. Personally, I think it ticks all of the boxes a player would be looking for in terms of a top online poker-room experience. Put simply; it’s well worth checking out.
